It's scary to think that all it took was a couple of seconds for someone to get passed airport security. I have traveled many times since 911 and always felt safe. I even traveled days after the infamous shoe bomber situation. I remember feeling more inconvenienced than unsafe. Perhaps ropes and security guards aren't enough. Perhaps we need more permanent barriers. I'm glad that authorities will be using this as a learning experience.
